The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 光影真的很棒，整部电影的画面都是喜欢的色调，很细腻，剪辑细节处理得也很好。意识到自己的秘密被公开、“被出柜”的时候沉默着流泪，迎着人群下楼梯那段，很心疼。
浪费时间，挺好的题材拍成这样，有好多机会爆头，结果非得不好打的时候来一枪，那个美女跟狙击手有仇啊！全程都在墨迹，除了开头那几枪。。。
自由的代价是“生命的一切”。故事很精彩，描绘了南非一群为了理想和正义而战斗、牺牲的战士和英雄，同时也展示了殖民主义、种族主义分子的偏狭残忍。

层层压迫，错的不是同性恋也不是女性，错的是这个世界（男权社会）。
节奏有点慢，这类劫持人质片本应该让人紧张的透不过气，我可几乎全程边玩手机边看完的
困惑期的故事看完总是觉得疲惫和无聊，看剧时内心反应也会是“这没必要、没必要”“这也是大可不必”
很好看也走心的类型片，完成度蛮高的，视听上一点不马虎，虽然剧本明显有一个套路，但拍的确实牵动人心，主要是节奏掌控很不错。这个剧本底子总想起《热天午后》，最后结尾想起《虎豹小霸王》。
性少数群体也想做一个有幸福家庭的普通人，世界是有摩擦力的而不是理想状态的，大多数总是会对少数有着恶意不解和攻击，盼望每个人都在不断前进成长不再迷茫，男主演技有些不好。
又是同性悲苦情调老一套，这苦还不是一般的苦，而是fantasy的苦，作出来的苦
没想到真实发生过？不平等和平等都难处理……
从官方视角中的恐怖分子的视角拍的片子比较有特色，而且是种族隔离时期的理想主义者，革命者，热血青年，他们不怕死，但要自由。
贵在真实，不要当成一般的警匪片就不会有拍的不好的感觉了。自由的代价是一切。种族歧视的抗争

喜欢的点“有摩擦才会前进”“试着去了解和理解”，但还是理想化了。
